My vacation in Vietnam was truly unforgettable. While I will be sharing my travel adventures in more detail in a separate post, I wanted to dedicate this one to the trip’s final destination: the Salinda Resort on the Phu Quoc Island. After traveling through Vietnam for 3 weeks, I could not have asked for a more magical conclusion to the trip of a lifetime.

Situated south off the Cambodian coast in the Gulf of Thailand, Phu Quoc Island is known for its beautiful, white beaches and lush nature. While it is only 50 km long from north to south and 25 km from east to west, Phu Quoc is Vietnam’s largest island. As most of the island’s land is part of a national park, Phu Quoc is still mostly undeveloped. That being said, Vietnam’s growing tourism industry makes the development of large resorts and hotels inevitable. It will be interesting to return in a few years to see the island’s transformation!

So, why did I decide to stay at the Salinda Resort? As someone who truly believes in the power of reviews, I was very impressed by the high scores Salinda received on all existing review websites. In fact, throughout my time in Vietnam, I had not come across a hotel/resort with better customer reviews than the Salinda Resort. It goes without saying that the available photos were gorgeous and the location unbeatable.

My father and I conveniently flew to Phu Quoc from HCMC with JetStar Pacific and were welcomed by two members of the Salinda Resort staff. It’s always such a great feeling to land some place new without having to worry about hailing a cab and/or getting overcharged. It was a short yet interesting drive to the resort; the island is filled with lush trees and adorable roadside restaurants/stores.

The Salinda Resort team really made arriving at the resort a great experience; we were greeted by the manager and treated to some delicious welcome drinks. The Salinda employee who checked us in provided us with a detailed description of all the facilities, as well as tips to enjoy our stay to the fullest. She really heightened my excitement to be there for the next 4 days!

We stayed in the Premium Twin Room with Sea View on the second floor. The room was spacious, bright, and interestingly decorated with warm tones and baroque designs. Some Vietnamese treats and a hand written postcard were waiting for us when we got to the room; it’s always nice to feel noticed and welcomed. The bathroom was equipped with a beautiful shower and anything one may need, such as nail files, bathrobes, slippers, and body lotion. The balcony with sea view turned out to be the perfect spot to read a book while enjoying the sunset.

Immediately after putting our stuff down, we went out to explore the rest of the resort. The hallways of the resort are filled with paintings from local Vietnamese artists, making any walk interesting and fun. The entire resort is designed with different layers/areas to enjoy. The resort boasts a kids’ club, a business center with ample books, a fitness center, and multiple bars. I especially loved the fitness center with complimentary bottled water and towels. I worked out every morning after breakfast and loved the feeling of privacy and cleanliness.

While the entire property is stunning, I believe the pool area takes the absolute crown. The resort has these cool birdcage shaped couches with comfortable pillows to relax. The comfortable beach loungers are comfortable and face the infinity pool and its backdrop of palm trees. Other resorts/hotels we had previously stayed at were unable to keep the pool cool throughout the day, but the Salinda pool was always refreshing (so important with the heat and high humidity!). The pool bar serves drinks and food, which is always nice to have available.

It goes without saying that the Vietnamese beaches are breathtaking, and the beaches on Phu Quoc Island were no exception. While the ocean was too rough to swim in the first day, we were able to enjoy the private beach the following days. We had read reviews and heard stories about large amounts of trash on the island’s shore, but we saw no signs of that. The beach was kept extremely clean by the Salinda staff, making it a beautiful place to swim or watch the sunset. During high season, I am sure the beach is even more beautiful and exotic!

One of my favorite parts of the day was breakfast. Welcomed with a smile and some champagne, we were pleasantly surprised by the many options of food to choose from. From traditional Vietnamese dishes to fresh juices, from crepes to cheese plates with fresh, European bread: you name it they have it! Employees would come up to our table to make conversation and suggest things to do around the island. One of the senior employees even prepared a list for us with recommended restaurants, stores, and sights in Ho Chi Minh City. So nice!

Overall, our stay at the Salinda Resort in Phu Quoc was everything I could have wished for. The attentive staff, beautifully designed grounds, and delicious food made the entire experience unforgettable. The resort is perfect for a romantic getaway, but can also be fully enjoyed with family or friends. Thank you, Salinda Resort, for providing us with the perfect place to conclude our Vietnamese adventure!

Thanks for reading, everyone!
